About Adult Behavioral Health at Family Guidance Center

“We’re focused on teaching people to learn to live successfully with mental illness. Simply because an individual has a diagnosis, that doesn’t have to define what their life is.”

Fact: One in four adults will experience a behavioral health condition or problem in a given year.
Fact: Approximately 50 percent of adults in America will experience a mental illness over the course of their lifetime.
Fact: Mental illness is a disease, like heart disease or diabetes, that requires diagnosis and ongoing management.

FGC recognizes that behavioral health is an integral component of overall health. Illnesses like chronic depression, anxiety disorders or bipolar disorder require ongoing, personalized treatment, similar to other chronic diseases such as heart disease or diabetes.

Treatment Options Include:

  • Psychiatric assessment and care, including medications when needed
  • Coordinated treatment from a physician, nurse, a case manager, vocational counselor and therapist – among others – to help consumers remain successful in their own homes
  • Programming to promote development of peer networks and community integration
  • Innovative Team Approach to Success
