About Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services

“If you’re willing, Family Guidance has the support you need to reach recovery. Decide you want it and make today the day.”

– Susan, former consumer, Addiction Treatment Services

Current research on addiction indicates that brain and biological changes occur during the addiction process, and that addiction to alcohol or substances can be classified as a true disease – similar to chronic conditions like heart disease or diabetes. Addiction, like other diseases, affects millions of people each year, regardless of their occupation, social class or status.

Because the disease of addiction is progressive, complex and multi-faceted, it requires professional help to achieve recovery. Family Guidance Center serves more than 1,600 consumers each year who are living with addictions to drugs, alcohol or prescription substances.

Recovery Alongside Life Responsibilities

Through flexible and innovative therapies designed to identify and address addiction causes and triggers, Family Guidance consumers work toward recovery while participating in their family and career lives. They choose classes that are best-suited to their own recovery goals and form a true camaraderie with fellow participants. Services are offered from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate work or family schedules.

Services Can Help With:

  • Prescription Substance Use (including opiods, prescription painkillers, narcotics)
  • Alcohol Use Disorder
  • Substance Use Disorder (including methamphetamines, cocaine)

Compulsive Gambling

Compulsive gambling is gaining increasing national and global recognition as a complex and serious illness that destroys people’s families, careers and finances. More than 15 million people in the U.S. show some signs of compulsive or addictive gambling. The condition is often linked with other illnesses, like alcohol addiction or chronic depression. Compulsive gambling doesn’t just take place at casinos; many people live with the addiction in secret for years through Internet gaming or sports betting.

Like other addictions behavioral health issues, professional treatment is needed to overcome compulsive gambling or a gambling addiction. Family Guidance Center provides outpatient treatment and counseling, as well as group-based therapy, for people who are on their journey to recovery for a gambling addiction.
